This is part of a series! Check out the previous posts at the bottom.
Our final full day in Paris was spent with the lightest agenda yet. We had some shopping to do, a couple of easy sights to see, and a whole lot of walking in between. Really just a day to soak up the city. I started by polishing off roll #12 from the day before with a few shots out of our hotel window.
Side note: in this day’s whole gallery, I’m pretty proud of myself for bookending with the same shop
Ready to roll (ha!) with some fresh Nation Photo 400 I picked up a couple of days before, we headed out to visit the Jardin du Luxembourg, a quick stroll from our little home.
Speaking of film, if you enjoy what I do, feel free to buy me a roll!
If you know your way around film, you probably figured it out with the crazy awesome halation in the highlights here — this Nation Photo 400D is Kodak Vision3 with the remjet removed, just like another brand that uses the same numeric designation. In other words, it’s a badass color film, and I wish I had bought more of it. But, just to stay on brand, film doesn’t necessarily make photos good, so here’s another from our little portrait session on the X100VI.
After we knew we had some absolute keepers thanks to the Pedco tripod, we continued to wander aimlessly through this gem of a park. Buy one of those tripods, I love mine (and if you use the link I’ll get a tiny little piece of the pie!)
While we stuck mostly to the more “traditional” cafe for most of the trip, sometimes a cool 3rd wave shop hits the spot like no other. On our list for this trip was Cafe du Clown in St. Germain, and as soon as we found it we knew it was totally the right move. Not only did I have the best singular pourover of my life, but we met Thesée!
Thesée was a fantastic hostess and chilled with us as we sipped coffee, ate a cookie, and Joni Mitchell’s “Free Man in Paris” played on the turntable, creating what was the singular best moment of the trip. Maybe even of life. Let’s listen together to get the full experience.
Not to be outdone, there was, of course, another dog just outside:
Properly caffeinated, we set out on a stroll.
We made a few photography centric stops - Antiq Photo, Odeon Photo, and even the Leica Store - but for some reason I didn’t take a ton of photos ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Go see them for yourself.
Anyway, a big part of this day was to do some shopping. Not a huge pastime for either of us, but this trip was in celebration of Nadia’s birthday a couple of weeks before, so some gifts were in order! First stop was Officine Universelle Buly. While I wasn’t familiar before, I became a quick fan of the perfume sample things.
Post-Buly, we hit the streets again.
We set off to one last store for the day that begins with a “C” for one more b-day gift. While this wasn’t it, we definitely enjoyed some stories about this ring and the brand’s panther mascot history from Laurent.
After realizing that luxury shopping is really about the experience as much as the products, we headed out, caught some rain, caught the train, and had some dinner at the best little restaurant across the street from our hotel, soaking in as much as we could on the last night of our visit.
Plenty more photos from this day, check out the whole gallery from episode 7 here!
